Dear Parents and Guardians;

In consultation with our school communities, a number of schools in Trillium Lakelands District School Board chose to take advantage of the Ministry of Education funding for the Safe Welcome Program for Elementary Schools. The Safe Welcome Program supports the installation of security access devices on school entries.

The installation of the security access devices allows for schools to be locked during the day. There is a security camera and a buzzer at the front door of the building, and office staff will be able to see who is at the front door when the buzzer is pressed. School office staff will unlock the door and permit entry if the individual is known to the school community. If the individual is not known or recognized, there will be the opportunity for office staff to speak to the individual before they access the school building. During recess and other school breaks, arrangements have been made to allow students easy access in and out of the school building.

You are in receipt of this letter as our school now has a security access device installed at the front entrance. If you arrive at the school during regular school hours, please attend to the front door of the school and ‘buzz in’ to gain access to the school.

The purpose of the Safe Welcome Program is to help to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff and the school community.

Should you have any questions about our school’s new system please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
