Message from the Principal
It is hard to believe that the end of the school year has arrived! 10 months have passed very quickly!
The year’s end always brings with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment. So many things have been accomplished this year! From the Terry Fox Run near the beginning of the year to the Grade 8 Graduation (which happened yesterday) – our students have been involved in an extraordinary number of activities. Of course, we should not forget the tremendous amount of learning which has taken place during the year. Throughout all of these activities our students have demonstrated great character!
To our graduates – congratulations on your achievement. The DDES staff wish you all the best as you move to your new high school. If this is your last child to leave DDES, the staff would like to thank you for your support and for the guidance that you have provided for your child(ren). We look forward to hearing from the graduates in the future and we hope that each of them will have gained a firm foundation for their education while at DDES. We know that many of you will visit staff members at the school in the next few years.
For those families who will be returning in September, school will begin on Tuesday, September 6th. Due to the number of families moving in and out of DDES over the summer, class lists be revised up until the beginning of school. I do not want to create anxiety for a student should he/she have to change classes at the beginning of school. Parents should also recognize that the grade “make-up” of classes may also change between now and September depending on student enrolment. This will be how your children find out who their teacher will be. For this reason, class lists will be posted on Friday, September 2nd.
On behalf of the staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer.
School Council News
The final School Council meeting for the 2010-2011 will be on Monday, September 12th. The first School Council meeting for the 2011-2012 year is tentatively being planned for Monday, October 17th. Information regarding joining the 2011-2012 School Council will be sent home at the beginning of September.
Jump Rope for Heart
Mrs. McFarland is happy to announce that Jump Rope for Heart’s final fundraising total was $4752.38! Great work, Dunsford!
Character Ed Assembly – June 24 – Self Control:
The following students won Character Ed Certificates for the month of June for Perservance: Cody Hayward, Cody Stata, Raymond Thurston, Austin Peel, Bruce Clarke, Dawson Boileau, Evan Sloan, Victoria Hammill, Emily Krell, Abby Gahagan, Meagan Spence, Trenton McLeod and Brianna Billings.
Principal Awards went to April Powell, Connor Menhert and Megan Smith.
It is an unfortunate reality that June always sees our staffing complement in transition. DDES is unfortunately losing a number of people at the end of June. As well, we will be welcoming new staff members as well.
Staff Leaving DDES
After working at DDES for 11 years, Mrs. Swartman has accepted a position at Bobcaygeon Public School. This move will bring Mrs. Swartman closer to her home and children’s school. Your dedication, passion and sense of humour will be greatly missed, Mrs. Swartman!
Ms. Barnes, who currently teaches JK/SK, is taking a year’s Leave of Absence for 2011-2012. We wish Ms. Barnes all the best during her leave in the upcoming year.
Ms. Anderson, who has taught a number of different classes at DDES in the past few years, will unfortunately not be back at our school next year. Although I have only worked with you for 1 year, Ms. Anderson, I know that you have positively impacted DDES students in many different ways over these years.
Mrs. Jenkinson, an educational assistant in the Grade 5/6 and 6 class, will be moving back to Parkview Public School. We wish her all the best!

Staff Coming To DDES
I am pleased to welcome a number of new staff to DDES in 2011-2012. Each of these individuals brings her own set of talents and abilities and will positively contribute to our school.
Ms. Wotten, who will be teaching kindergarten next year, comes to DDES from QVPS. She is looking forward to her move to DDES and working with our youngest students.
Mrs. McReelis, who will be teaching grade 5 next year, comes to DDES from Central Public School. She has worked with a number of different grades over the past few years and will definitely bring a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to DDES.
Mrs. Ray, who will be filling a grade 4 LTO role from September to February, comes to DDES from Langton Public School. She too has worked with a number of different grades over the past few years and is excited about working with our junior students.
Mrs. Bowman, who will be joining our school as an Educational Assistant, comes to DDES from QVPS. She too has worked with a number of different and, having visited DDES this week, is looking forward to the move.
Mrs. Gray, will be filling a primary prep LTO role in September and early October.

Youth Unlimited Summer Camps are back.
Camps will run alternating weeks between Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls 9am-Noon. Bobcaygeon weeks will be July 4 (Sports Week), July 18 (Art Week), Aug 2 (Cooking Week), Aug 15 (Water Week). Fenelon Falls weeks will be July 11, July 25, and Aug 7. Registration will be Tues June 28th 7pm or Wed June 29th 3:30 pm and 7pm.
