Dear All The OEYC and HKPR District Health Unit are putting together a 4 or 5 class prenatal series starting in January that will be held at the Ontario Early Years Centre (OEYC). Depending on interest we may look at offering more series in the future.
We are hoping to offer the free classes on a Monday from 4 to 6 pm. They will be aimed at families who might not be as comfortable taking traditional evening classes at the health unit. Women will be welcome to attend on their own or with a partner or support person. Content will include preparing for labour and birth, infant care and safety, infant feeding and adjusting to life after a baby is born. A snack will be provided and help with transportation may be available for some participants. We are hoping to start on January 19th. Please share this information with families and encourage them to call or text Cindy Hutchinson who will be facilitating the sessions using her work cell – 705 340 8508. Information about the series can also be obtained by calling Judy Robbins, Parent Education Program Manager, at OEYC, Lindsay 705 324 7900 ext. 206. We need a minimum of 3 pregnant mothers to offer the program, and have space for a maximum of 6 to 7 women and their partners.
Thank you for your support in promoting this new programme. Please get in touch if you have any thoughts or questions.
Kind regards,
Cindy Hutchinson RN MScPH
