Fire Prevention Week 2011
Fire Prevention Week runs from October 9 – 15, 2011 and this year’s theme is “Protect Your Family From Fire”.
Saturday, October 8
Kinmount Firefighters Open House at the Kinmount Farmers’ Market (at the railroad station) from 10:00am – 1:00pm
Tuesday, October 11
Coboconk Fire Hall Open House 6:30 – 8:00pm
Junior Firefighter Games – Students at Pope John Paul II in Lindsay (grades 3, 4 & 5) will be going through a rotation of training stations to learn the importance of fire safety.
Wednesday, October 12
- Oakwood Fire Hall Open House from 6:00 – 8:00pm
- Burnt River Fire Hall Open House from 6:00 – 9:00pm
Junior Firefighter Games – Students at St. Dominic Elementary School in Lindsay will be going through a rotation of training stations to learn the importance of fire safety.
Thursday, October 13
- Lindsay Fire Hall Open House from 6:00 – 8:00pm
Junior Firefighter Games – Students at Dr. George Hall Public School in Little Britain will be going through a rotation of training stations to learn the importance of fire safety.
Friday, October 14
Fire Chief for the Day – Two winners of the Grade 6 Fire Chief for the Day contest will take part in a wide range of activities at the fire service headquarters in Lindsay. The lucky students will be picked up from school in a fire truck and taken to Headquarters to start their training. The day will include activities with firefighting equipment, interacting with staff, and delivering a fire service message to the public through our local media representatives. There will be opportunities for photos and interviews at approximately 11am at Fire Headquarters in Lindsay.
