For Immediate Release

Young Writers Workshops @ Fenelon Falls and Lindsay Libraries

The City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library is pleased to present a series of workshops for young writers which encourage children to write and illustrate their own book.

The Fenelon Falls Library workshops will be held at 6 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month commencing on September 15th and will run for a total of 8 weeks.

The Lindsay Library workshops will be held on Tuesdays at 4 pm for eight weeks commencing October 4.

Workshops will focus on generating an idea, creating a story outline, writing the story, establishing the book layout, including illustrations, and producing a completed book.  Suitable for children aged 8 years and up, writing workshops help to elevate self-esteem and create a positive outlook on books and reading.

More than 50 children have participated in the Library’s young writer workshops and have written and illustrated their own books.  Many of these books are available in the Library and can be borrowed by other young library patrons.

For more information or to register for the program please call the Lindsay branch at 705 324-9411 ext 1332 or the Fenelon Falls branch at (705) 887-6300.
